My philosophy is to keep things simple. So I start at the obvious cause of muscle problems i.e the muscles and then look for other factors. Which include: do you drink enough water, nutrition, memory / emotional factors, chemical intolerance etc.
I started working with clients with muscle problems in 2004 with the goal of achieving fast results. The first therapy I learnt was Bowen therapy which worked well but did not give me the fast results I was looking for ( this may be due to their lack of commitment re home support ). So I then added some Trigger point techniques for the lower back. This reduced the amount of sessions but were still higher than I wanted. Since my goal is to achieve in only 3 sessions a reduction in pain levels for the average client from an average of 8/10 to 1/10 was not being met. So I kept looking, learning and reading as much as I could about other muscles therapies. I found that Touch For Health Kinesiology gave faster results, but in order to achieve my goal of only 3 sessions I sometimes need to add other therapies such as Bowen therapy or Trigger point therapy which is where I am today.
Since starting in 2004 I have noticed that clients who have had a long term problem do not want to address any link between to pain and a memory / emotion or trauma. This is usually due to doctors sending then to psychiatrist or trying to put them on antidepressants when they know they are in pain but the doctor doesn’t believe them. That is why I started to find a system which looked to fix the muscle problems first and then to look at what else may be part of the cause of pain. But I am sure that I will meet someone some day who’s pain will not go away without addressing a link between their pain and a memory / emotion or trauma ( e.g. a minor car accident ). Since most people when asked, will admit that they tense up their neck and shoulder muscles when they are emotionally stressed ( possible contributing factor with migraines ).
This is when Dynamic Kinesiology comes into its own because of it’s ability to track down issues which may be effecting the muscles such as past memories ( e.g. car accidents ), diet problems and other contributing factors.
Another thing of note is that emotional stress is near the top of all of the lists as a contributing factor for heart problems, stroke, cancer etc that I have seen.
